ASDAN’s programmes and qualifications offer flexible ways to accredit skills for learning, skills for employment and skills for life. Qualifications from Entry level to Level 3 – are available as diplomas, certificates, awards and individual units, and support the breadth required for 16-19
All ASDAN programmes:
• are learner-centred with a modular and
• activity-based curriculum.
• encourage young people to take responsibility for their own learning.
• are relevant to a wide range of settings, such as schools, colleges, youth and training.
• recognise, reward and celebrate achievement at all levels.
Towards Independence is based on a life skills curriculum and is aimed at pupils aged 16 and above working at Pre Entry level. The programme develops personal, social and independence skills through accredited modules. There are 60 different modules to choose from which allows programmes to be individually tailored to each learner. These modules have been categorised into 6 under 6 headings: Creativity, Independent Living Skills, Personal Development/Citizenship/PSHE, Culture, Leisure/Recreation/Sport, Work-Related and Communication and Numeracy.
ASDAN’s Short Courses cover a wide range of non-qualification activities. They recognise and reward between 10 and 60 hours of personal development through experiential learning. There are 30 titles available.
Personal Development Programmes
These popular programmes offer imaginative ways of developing, recording
and certificating a wide range of young people’s personal qualities, abilities and
achievements, as well as introducing them to new activities and challenges.
Aimed at Entry 3 and Level 1, these programmes are suitable for use with learners aged 16+ . Certification is available at Bronze (60 hours), Silver (120 Hours) and Gold (180 hours).
The Certificate of Personal Effectiveness is a nationally-recognised qualification. The qualification is suitable for learners between the ages of 15 – 19 and is delivered at Level 1 and 2. Pupils will develop a wide range of personal qualities, new skills and confidence. Learner will build portfolio of evidence as they complete various challenges, which will demonstrate their competence and skills in working with others, improving own learning and performance, problem solving, planning, researching communication and presenting. This will be achieved through a choice of challenges within 12 modules. Pupils will need to gain 12 credits (120 hours) to achieve the qualification.

Entry Level qualifications provide a flexible framework within the qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
There are no timetabled examinations, and pupils submit units of work for accreditation.

Within each group units can be combined to create programmes of work suited to individual learner needs. There is opportunity for progression through Entry 1, 2 and 3 and on to Level 1.
